I am pleased to welcome you to the internet site for the Association québécoise de recherche clinique. This site is one of the tools we are using to make our professional environment evolve towards a place where clinical research will be performed more and more by professionals, clinicians, and others working full-time in this sector.
Our working environment has, over the past years, experienced constant metamorphosis due to important changes, as well as increasing external pressures.
These changes come from everywhere, for example:
- Government agencies with increasingly complex and numerous regulations
- Pharmaceutical companies with increasingly complex protocols for very specific groups of people
- Patients with increasing reticence in participating in projects or consuming medication
- Countries with a strong emerging economy participating in studies
- The use of new technologies and the addition of new tasks for the clinical research personnel.
External pressures and changes are also present, such as: - Very tight recruitment timelines - Studies with competitive recruiting, - International projects, - Unchanged budgets, - projects without protocol deviations, - arduous financing, - etc.
These changes and these pressures cannot lead us to deviate from the objectives of the association, that is, professional training, representation to the decision-makers, and the growth of enterprises. I believe that it is important to keep in mind that these objectives cannot be realised without the establishment of criteria for quality of work, concern for people, and financial health.
The internet site is one of the modes of communication between members and other clinical research personnel. I invite you to visit our site, to communicate with us, to participate in the activities and work committees, and to be present at our annual congress.
Looking forward to seeing you soon.
